• Does the city inspect food facilities for health reasons?

  No. Food facilities in the City of Annapolis are inspected by Anne Arundel County Health Inspectors. They have complete autonomy, but work closely with inspectors from DNEP.

• What is required by the Health Department for the release of a building permit?

  The following submittals must be received and approved:

  1. Plans drawn to scale which include the layout, a finish schedule, lighting, ventilation, plumbing, and trash storage details.
  2. An equipment list indicating manufacturers name and model numbers.
  3. A Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Manual.

• Are public restrooms required at all proposed Food Service Facilities?

  Public restrooms are required if consumption of food is allowed on premise. However, if the operation is solely carry-out, this is not a requirement.

• What fees are involved?

  There is a one time plan review fee of $150.00.

• Is a license required if alcohol beverages are served but not food?

  Yes.
